Traveling to and around Durham and Duke

Duke Campus Transit

The Duke University Transportation Office operates several bus routes 7:00a – 8:00p on weekdays with free service for riders. Real time information of bus routes and bus locations are available at https://duke.transloc.com/routes

Specific routes that may be of interest to AEESP2025 attendees who are staying at:

• Residence Inn and Hotels near East Campus – CSF-1: East-Central-West , 7:00a – 8:00pm. We recommend the Flowers Drive bus stop for the closest proximity to conference venues.

• JB Duke, Science Dr Garage: PR-1: Basset-Research and LNC: Lancaster Commons Routes for bus stops between the Science Dr Garage and Science Dr Traffic Circle (Physics Bldg)

During the conference, there will be limited-service Duke Transit bus running continuously between the bus stop shelters at the Science Drive Garage and the Science Drive Traffic Circle.

For the Thursday evening Night out in Durham social event, shuttle buses will pick-up/drop-off attendees at the Science Dr Traffic Circle and Science Dr Garage Bus Stops.

Duke Campus Parking

Public parking for visitors is available at the following (in order of proximity to conference venues):

1) Bryan Center surface lot,

2) Bryan Center Parking Garage 4 (PG4),

3) Science Drive Visitor Surface Lot

4) Science Drive Garage (PGF), and

5) Trent Drive Parking Garage 1 (PG1). 

Please note that these are paid hourly parking facilities and operate on a first-come, first-served basis.

Travel to Durham, North Carolina 

BY PUBLIC TRANSIT:

GoTriangle transit bus system runs from RDU to downtown Durham.

Duke University’s bus system is free and will operate its summer schedule route (https://parking.duke.edu/buses/)

BY AIR:

Duke University is 18 miles from Raleigh-Durham Airport (RDU) and offers multiple rideshare/taxi services.

BY TRAIN:

Amtrak connects Durham with many other cities in the Eastern US via the City Center train station.
